How many porta potties do I need for a party?
A party of 50 guests for 4 hours needs 1 porta potty. A party of 100 guests for 4 hours needs 2. A 150-guest, 5-hour event with a bar needs 4: three for the guests plus one because alcohol is served. Add a hand-wash station whenever food is on the table.
| Guests | Up to 4 hours | 5–6 hours | 8 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 50 | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| 100 | 2 | 2 | 3 |
| 150 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| 200 | 3 | 4 | 6 |
| 300 | 4 | 6 | 8 |
| 500 | 7 | 10 | 14 |
The table uses our planning formula: guests × hours ÷ 300, rounded up. If alcohol is served, add 1 unit for every 5 in the table, minimum 1. The calculator does the math for any headcount.
When do event porta potties get delivered and picked up?
Event porta potties are delivered on Friday and picked up on Monday for weekend events, at no extra cost. Weekday events get delivery the day before and pickup the next business day. The rental price covers up to 3 days on site, so the unit is ready before your first guest arrives.
Book 1 to 2 weeks ahead for May through September weekends. Graduation weekends in early June and the Fourth of July weekend book out first in Willits.
What should be at a public event?
A public event needs at least one wheelchair-accessible porta potty. The 2010 ADA Standards, section 213.2, call for at least 5 percent of portable toilets in each cluster to be accessible, with a minimum of one. A cluster of 10 units therefore needs at least 1 accessible unit.
Food vendors bring their own rules. California law requires mobile food facilities parked over an hour to operate within 200 feet of an approved toilet and handwashing facility (Health and Safety Code §114315). Mendocino County Environmental Health may set restroom conditions for events with food booths, so check with them when you apply for an event permit. See the ADA Standards §213 for accessibility details.
Where should the units go at a backyard party?
At a backyard party, place porta potties on flat ground 20 to 50 feet from the eating area, downwind, and within 25 feet of where the truck can park. A side yard, the end of the driveway, or a gravel pad by the garage works well. Keep a clear, lit path for evening guests.

Party and event questions
Do I pay extra if the unit arrives Friday for a Saturday party?
Friday drop-off and Monday pickup are included in the event price. Drivers do not run Sunday routes, so this schedule is how every weekend event works.
Does a standard event porta potty have a sink?
A standard unit has a hand-sanitizer dispenser, not a sink. If guests are eating, choose a unit with a foot-pump sink inside, or add a separate hand-wash station.
What colors are the porta potties?
Our event units come in blue, gray and pink. Ask for a color when you book and we will match it if one is in the yard that week.
Can the units be delivered after the party has started?
Units should be in place before guests arrive. Drivers set up quietly, but a truck backing across a lawn in the middle of a party is not something guests enjoy.
Can I get a porta potty for a church or school event?
Churches, schools and nonprofits book the same event units. For any event open to the public, include at least one wheelchair-accessible unit so guests with walkers or wheelchairs have a usable restroom.
What if it rains on my event?
Porta potties work in the rain. Set them on a patio, driveway or gravel near the party rather than a low spot in the lawn. If the event is canceled before the truck leaves the yard, there is no charge.
